# Unofficial Fan Project Policy
## Status
ProjectCapture is an **unofficial, open-source and non-commercial Pokémon fan project for Hytale**. It is independently developed and is not endorsed by Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, Creatures Inc., Hypixel Studios or Hytale.
The source repository may be public. Source code authored for ProjectCapture is offered under MPL-2.0. This license does not grant any rights to Pokémon, Hytale or other third-party names, characters, designs, game files, trademarks or copyrights.
## Content rules
- ProjectCapture code, content definitions and production files must be authored for this project.
- Cobblemon or other mods may be studied at the product level, but their code, models, textures, animations, sounds and data are not copied.
- Hytale server JARs, `Assets.zip`, extracted base assets and launcher/live-world data are never committed or distributed.
- No reverse engineering or decompilation is part of the workflow; only official public APIs, Maven artifacts and documentation are used.
- Pokémon music, recordings and ripped game assets are not included. New models, textures, animations, UI and placeholder audio are produced for ProjectCapture.
- The project remains non-commercial. No sales, paid access, loot boxes or paid random capture mechanics are allowed.
## Release gate
Before any tagged build or public binary is uploaded, a maintainer must complete `release-review.json` from the checked-in example and confirm:
1. the current Hytale EULA, community guidelines and mod-distribution rules were reviewed;
2. third-party ownership and non-affiliation notices are present;
3. no Hytale game files, secrets, copied mod files or ripped Pokémon assets are packaged;
4. the build remains non-commercial and is clearly described as unofficial;
5. schema, engine, asset and in-game smoke checks pass.
This gate is a project safeguard, not a legal determination or a promise that a platform owner will accept a release.
